Starfish Found on an Abalone Shell

We are all 'shooting stars'
In the Cosmos of possibility.
A brief flashing from primal nothing to everything.
Dancing with the universe-in chaos and harmony.

We suffer the pleasures and adversity
Of aging alongside one another,
Joyfully surrendering the folly
And expectations of our youth to the wisdom
That will come through listening from Love.

"Age is opportunity no less
Than youth itself, though in another dress,
And as the evening twilight fades away
The sky is filled with stars invisible by day." - Longfellow

The attached image is of a starfish
I found at low tide on an opened abalone shell
on the Mendocino shore.
A long journey for each—a marriage.

Sea 'Treasures' Exposed

I've been a beachcomber, of sorts, for many years-looking for natural or discarded treasures I might find on the ocean's shore—and within me.

When my sons were small exploring tidepools provided endless adventure-stretched their curiosity and nurtured their appreciation for the natural wonders of the sea and its ecosystems—to the rhythm of tides. As adults they've offered the same intimate exploration to their children. Secrets, previously hidden—exposed.

'Secret Beach' at Low Tide in Mendocino

I've walked solo along perimeters of land-meeting-sea looking within me for lost items of intrinsic value—lifelines. I've walked the shore with loved ones seeking peace through reconciliation in relationship with others, and with themselves at the close of life. Barnacles, limpets and sea-glass indeed.

Dagma and I continue to find ourselves among beachcombing treasures. Secrets, regrets and wishes—revealed and released—to swim with fishes.
