Hey buddy,
You have always been my mentor, my teacher and my protective, inclusive big brother.
Thank you for that.
You've taught me much about life and most specifically, how to appreciate it.
"Education by Gary" didn't involve books or lectures. It involved you walking the walk and me watching.
You taught me about being a friend, loving me in spite of time gone by. As we've recalled and treasured the times we've had together, you've reminded me how special they were so I could enjoy them a second time around.
You taught me about searching for and questioning life's meaning in a positive way.
You taught me about living life full out, about being present for and appreciative of the simple parts that often don't get a chance to say "hey look at me."
You have taught me how to embrace life, to celebrate life and to find joy in all that life has to offer. I'll be forever grateful.
You've taught me to be dapper and even outrageous! Your elegance and panache always shine through especially when you've led my Julie in a dance across the kitchen floor.

You really know how to make an entrance, especially when you carry wine and flowers into a beauty shop!
I'd never know a plant whisperer before I met you. Now that's a revelation! From matters of the heart and mind to matters of the stomach, your green thumb degree in "Plantology" has produced many a grin and lots of full bellies!
Your courage and positive attitude in the face of extraordinary and continuous pain is legendary. Cats have but nine lives, Gary Ibsen is known to have 99.
I so appreciate and admire your courage being on full display again and again as you've redefined your relationship with this life.
Please know you're leaving behind a legacy of extraordinary love, generosity, brotherhood and parenting. You've immeasurable improved the lives of so many while setting an example for all of us to follow.
Thank you my friend. I'll always love you.
Tony T.
